Future Chef!

Welcome to Home Economics page. This course is taught by Mrs Tait.  All pupils in S1 and 2 have a double period of Home Economics each week.  Topics include a variety of activities including practical cookery and sewing,

In S3 and 4, pupils can choose Standard Grade Home Economics and also have opportunity to do Short Courses in Food Hygiene, Practical Cookery Skills and Organisational Skills.

On-line there will be letters to parents,homework, pictures, useful links and also a new recipe to try each month.

S1

S1 are learning about hygiene & safety.  The topic includes practical cookery.  There will be some homework tasks and pupils are also expected to bring a container when needed to carr

 

S2

In S2 we are contunuing the topic Getting the Balance Right.  Pupils were asked to keep a 24-hour food diary which they analysed using a computer programme.  As we work through the topic

 

S3

This term, in S3 Standard Grade we are studying a nutrition topic. As well as using the computer programme to analyse their own diet, pupils have looked at the diets of some members of staff.

 

S4

Standard Grade pupils are currently studying for the REHIS exam.  This also covers the knowledge needed for the topic Beating the Bugs.  Next term the emphasis will be on practical skills
