La Tempête (the storm)

'Avec des pointes à 166km/h sur le littoral aquitain, la tempête a balayé hier matin les sud-ouest de la France, entraînant de nombreuses chutes d'arbres et d'objets. 200,000 foyers ont été privés d'électricité dont 8,000 en Charente. Le coup de vent qui a traversé le département n'a cependant pas fait de victimes. dans l'est du pays, les fortes pluies ont provoqué d'importantes inondations.'

With winds of 166km per hour in the region, the storm in the south of France destroyed trees and other objects around the area. 200,000 private houses lost electricity, 8,000 of them in the area of Charente. The winds didn't create any mortalities but the heavy rain caused massive floods.
