Welcome to third year at Sandwick School and to the beginning of the options process. Although there remains work to be completed during the remainder of S2, this options process truly is the time when our young people make active choices regarding education.
The first stage is already underway - you have this option booklet now. Please read through it and discuss it with staff and parents. This should help you make some decisions about the subjects you would ideally like to have.
The second stage of this process is a blank 'wish list' containing the three compulsory areas English, Maths and Modern Languages plus a list of all other possible subjects. Pupils can make a free choice of five and we will then try to build an option sheet from this. NB: the wish-list will NOT necessarily be the final arrangement and some changes will be likely to ensure a timetable can be built. This approach ensures that the wishes of the pupils in general is the first consideration in construction the timetable.
The next stage will involve pupils making choices from that option sheet. This will create the S3 timetable. All pupils and parents will be invited to the school for an option interview with staff to try to ensure each pupil's choices are best matched to their plans.
