Standard Grade Modern Studies will help you make informed decisions about issues that may affect you now, or in the future.
You will study a range of topics, including how democracy works, employment and unemployment, the increasing elderly population, the changing structure of the family, American society, life in developing countries and the role of international organisations like the EU and NATO.

You will not only build upon your knowledge of the world today, but will develop useful skills. You will learn how to investigate a topic independently, to detect bias, to make comparisons between sources and to support a viewpoint with confidence.
